The Ministry Village At Olive, Inc. is an emerging non-profit organization established in May 2008. Our objective is to build a village on land set aside for this purpose by Olive Baptist Church. Our hope is to create a village of ministries and programs to increase access to quality care for people with un- or underserved community needs. Currently, Charis House, a residential drug and alcohol recovery program for women, is the first active ministry program of the Ministry Village.
Some of the immediate future plans for Ministry Village include:
Construction of a building to house the existing Health and Hope Clinic, a project of the Pensacola Bay Baptist Association. Health and Hope Clinic is a free health clinic offering primary care to adults aged 18 to 64 years. Moving the clinic to the Ministry Village will position the clinic geographically near public transportation while remaining in the north corridor of the county.
The clinic is in need of increased space to meet the increased demands of people seeking medical assistance. Recent surveys indicate that more than 66,000 Escambia residents aged 18 to 64 years do not have medical insurance. Further, more than 80% of these individuals are employed. Health and Hope Clinic stands as the only free provider of primary care serves for those needing medical assistance.
Locating Bethany Christian Services on site in the Ministry Village in early 2009. Bethany Christian Services is the nation’s largest adoption agency. They provide care for orphans and vulnerable children living on five continents.
Bethany Christian Services will open their offices in an existing house on the Olive Baptist campus. The house location is within the land area dedicated to the Ministry Village. The Ministry Village board believes that Bethany Christian Services will complement the vision plans for the Ministry Village.
Expanding Charis House facilities to help meet the demand for those services. Currently, the program can accommodate 14 women. The goal is to increase the number of women served to 35.
Establish a drug and alcohol program for men that is similar to Charis House.
Construct a recreation facility for community use.
The Ministry Village Board of Directors and staff are working to identify and develop funding to bring the vision into reality.
