Charis House

The Charis House for women is a faith-based one-year residential drug and alcohol recovery program. The ladies who enter our facility live dormitory-style with three residents sharing a room. Our goal is to see lives changed, hope restored, and families reconciled through the power of Jesus Christ.

The Two Phases

  1. Phase I is primary care for one year that offers structured and disciplined curriculum and activities to include a faith-based recovery program that teaches life skills using Biblical principles. Daily classes utilize Christ-centered curriculum, individual and group counseling to meet the needs of the whole person (spiritual, physical, mental and social). The Charis House is a controlled environment; residents do not work outside of the organization during the first year. The first year of the program focuses on each individual’s recovery and their particular problems and issues during this 12-month period.

  2. Phase II is offered to those who have shown commitment, diligence, and continued desire in their recovery process. The length of this phase depends on the resident's progress and commitment. The focus is on continued recovery working toward transition, with career development training to include advanced life skills, group meetings, counseling, building safe support systems, employability skills, and opportunity for further educational or vocational training.

During their stay at The Charis House, residents participate in a 12-step Biblically-based recovery program and attend classes in relapse prevention, communication and discipline. They will learn Bible history, and knowledge, and also the importance of self. They learn to identify thinking patterns common to addictive behavior. Further, they learn thinking patterns that bring about effective change. Curriculum and activity programming selection is to ensure optimum results and helpfulness to individual recovery.

Residents will receive individual professional counseling. Residents with their counselors will deal with past issues that affects their current life and could have an impact on their future lifestyle and well-being. Additionally, the program addresses coping and relationship skills including any issues with their parents or their children, their expectations of themselves and other people. More importantly, the program addresses their personal relationship to God.
